Amy Cuevas Schroeder is Director of Editorial Content. She’s passionate about the intersection of entrepreneurship and content and gets a rush from the entire publishing process. In previous roles, she’s worked in just about every aspect of content strategy and development, including educational content for Etsy, Minted, Abstract, and Writer.com.
She started her career by founding a magazine called Venus — about women in music and DIY culture — in her Michigan State University dorm room and later sold the company. Now in her spare time, she’s building The Midst, a women’s health and wellness brand to empower women 40+.
Amy works remotely from Phoenix and is a parent of twin girls, one of whom has a rare syndrome called Pitt Hopkins.
Why Unusual?
I’m inspired by Unusual Ventures’ hands-on, collaborative approach to building a scalable business. I love the fact that Unusual’s experts share their insights openly in The Field Guide and go even deeper with our portfolio companies. How lucky am I that I get to learn about entrepreneurial best practices every day?
If you’re strapped for time but want to create compelling content to build your audience, seize low-hanging fruit opportunities. Maybe it’s top tips for your target demographic, a list of standout people in your industry, the most important learnings about your industry or field, the most useful things you and your team have learned in your entrepreneurial journey, etc.
Up early to get my twins off to school, followed by an hour of side-hustling my startup (Jumble & Flow), followed by editing, writing, research, and production for the Unusual Field Guide. After work, it’s back to family time.
