Theia Insights Raises $8M Series A to Build the AI Infrastructure for Modern Investing

We’re excited to share that Theia Insights has raised an $8M Series A led by MiddleGame Ventures, with participation from Further Ventures and ourselves, bringing total funding to date to $14.5M.

We backed Theia early because we believe that, as AI reshapes how financial institutions research, construct portfolios, and allocate capital, those systems are only as good as the economic map they reason from. But, the maps the industry relies on today are fundamentally broken.

Every bank, asset manager, and index provider still depends on static classification systems that assign each company a single industry label. For example, Microsoft is considered “software,” even though it’s one of the world’s largest cloud platforms, building a major AI ecosystem, and operating a gaming business. In a world where companies can span multiple industries simultaneously, and where that mix shifts with every earnings call and acquisition, single-label classifications are incomplete and structurally misleading.

Theia solves this. Founded by Dr. Ye Tian (PhD in computational linguistics, formerly Amazon) and backed by a deeply technical team out of Cambridge, Theia’s proprietary AI ingests regulatory filings, earnings transcripts, press releases, and financials to build a continuously-updated, multidimensional picture of what a company actually does. Instead of one label, you get a dynamic map that evolves as the economy evolves, and that both humans and AI systems can reason from consistently.

Theia’s early traction validates the approach. Customers already include a leading global index provider, a major bank, large asset managers, and multi-billion-dollar hedge funds.

Congrats to Ye, Isami, James, and the entire Theia team. We’re proud to support you as you build the foundational intelligence layer for modern capital markets.
