Jyoti and I are excited to share some fantastic news with our community: Brett Teele has joined Unusual Ventures as our new Chief Financial Officer.

Brett will accelerate our efforts as we continue to build a best-in-class venture firm to support our amazing founders, limited partners, and our core team. His deep financial expertise and strategic acumen are precisely what we need as we scale our operations and further our abilities to leverage our team in multiple ways.

We've always believed in building a firm with the best talent, both in terms of understanding the nuances of the venture capital market and in providing the operational horsepower to truly help our founders and limited partners. Brett brings a wealth of experience from his prior senior finance and operational roles at Wildcat Venture Partners, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Venrock, and Fox Paine.

Brett began his career in public accounting working with small to medium-sized businesses, focusing on audit, tax, compliance, and financial consulting. This experience provided a good foundation for understanding many of the fundamental needs at startups. After that, Brett spent the majority of his career in private equity and venture capital, working across investment areas including syndicated real estate partnerships, leveraged buyouts, biotech, diagnostics, enterprise SaaS, consumer, and climate change solutions.

His experience speaks for itself, and we know he shares our commitment to excellence and long-term value creation.

Brett lives in Burlingame with his wife, Valerie, and their two adult children, who are frequent guests for family dinner night. He holds a BA from the University of California, Riverside, and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
