Editor's note:

I am incredibly excited to announce that I have joined the Unusual Ventures team as a vice president focused on empowering the next generation of enterprise infrastructure!

With the rise of Generative AI, the entire world is quickly learning that we’re in the midst of a major technological shift. Companies are moving on from the tinkering stages toward real production usage while completely rethinking their products from the ground up to utilize these advancements. AI is no longer confined to the realm of academia or tech giants — it’s accessible to startups and founders everywhere.

With this new wave comes the potential for an entire new generation of startups. Data infrastructure will need to be rebuilt with AI in mind. Cybersecurity companies will incorporate AI insights themselves, and create a new category to squash this new attack vector. Developer tooling will become far more predictive with the capacity to remove many of the tedious steps in today’s development/deployment lifecycle. And let’s not forget the new tooling that will be created to help businesses to adapt to this new AI paradigm.

With all of this in mind, I’m thrilled to spend more of my time at the seed stage. Having spent the last five years in venture, I’ve been lucky to have worked with amazing teams across the infrastructure stack. I’m looking forward to continuing to focus my time in infrastructure, while also making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity we’re just kicking off.

I joined Unusual because I believe the firm is best positioned to support early-stage founders. Since my first meeting with the team, I have been impressed by Unusual’s hyper-focus on helping technical founders achieve product-market fit on their journey to building lasting, sustainable businesses. Unusual’s Founder Services Team of seasoned operators gives our founders hands-on support that they can’t get anywhere else.

I am grateful to John, Wei, and the entire Unusual team for welcoming me. And to all current and future founders, let’s connect! Contact me directly at RWexler@unusual.vc, Linkedin, or Substack.
